Government Required - Free Credit Report Three A Year

"You have the right to a free credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com or 877-322-8228, the ONLY authorized source under federal law." - The Federal Trade Commission
Allow me to start by stating that I'm not breaking this news. But the fact is, at least from the people We've talked with, there are a lot of people that have no idea that they can get their report, at absolutely no cost, with no strings attached .

And as a result, I feel it ought to be discussed.

Your 100 % Free Report Is Gov Required.

Yes, you read that correctly.  You free credit report is government required.  The FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT is the thing that guarantees and also grants you permission to access your free reports. The three national reporting organizations need to give you a credit report, absolutely free, every Year.

This happened due to a large amount of claims that consumers brought to the FTC. Folks were complaining about the fact that they could not obtain their report for free without needing to sign up for extra services.

That's Good To Know. But What Can I Do Next?

Just as the quote above says. You should head over to the AnnualCreditReport.com website, or contact the toll-free number. You may also request your report by mail should you so choose. I never have personally called the toll-free number or made a request via mail.

However, I have gone to the website. For the most part, it's pretty straight-forward at first. But it is typically tricky when moving through the individual processes for receiving your reports through Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

How About The Paid Products?

There are lots of businesses on the Television and on the internet offering solutions related to credit reports and credit scores. Much like everything in this world, several are fantastic, many are fine, and several are bad.

If you're in the market for these types of services then make it a point to do your research. Check out as many as possible, find what they provide, and see what they charge. And of course, investigate the fine print.

Budgeting Your No cost Credit Reports If You Are In A Money Crunch.

If you can't afford any of the reporting services advertised on TV or the world wide web, why don't you get the next best thing? You might go onto AnnualCreditReport.com and get a report from each reporting bureau in just one sitting. But why not spread them out? Because you can only receive 1 report from a bureau annually, request 1 every 4 months through a different company.

For instance, you can ask for a report from Experian every Jan, Equifax each May, and TransUnion each September. Doing this allows you to see your credit report three times annually. That would also enable you to catch any errors, or fraudulent activity, on your report in a 4 month period as opposed to a 12 month time period.
